Unity Among Churches and Tribes

Thursday, July 28, 2005
I’m glad to report that the executive board of VCC and ROLWE have humbly assured that every tribe and language can come and learn at our Diplomatic Centre. The community welfare is for all and every tribe. Regardless of culture, class, creed or religion, people from different areas can come and display their cultural heritage without any tribal discrimination.

Since the inception VCC and ROLWE have worked alongside many different tribes with love and peace. Peace and reconciliation is the important target for our ministry. The centre will also help to better understand different denominations and the implementation of their work.

We express our thanks to all those that have helped and supported us in this part of the globe. VCC and ROLWE are in full swing to reach un-reached people groups living in remote areas of Manipur and the surrounding States.

We desperately need two more computers to handle all the work in evangelism. Membership of our ministry in Manipur has grown to 6500 people.

A high level meeting was held at the Diplomatic Centre Assembly Hall. The meeting lasted 3 hours. Many Christian Leaders from different denominations attended. Government department officials also attended. Resolutions were adopted for welfare that would help the weaker communities. It was also made clear that greater unity amongst the churches was crucial if development was to take place.

A wonderful thing happened on the 21st of this month. A pregnant woman gave birth at our Diplomatic Centre. The woman along with her husband and three little children came to us from a remote village far away. They came to see a doctor. However before going to see the doctor the woman had severe pain and could not move. She gave birth to the child there. Several women that were at the centre at the time were able to nurse her through the birth. It was a beautiful baby boy.

A soccer tournament was held on the 25th and I was the guest of honour. I was invited to speak to the huge number of people who attended the event. Thousands of people gathered as I spoke the word of God. The impact was great. People are still talking today about how it changed their lives. Their lives were bad but have now changed for the glory of God.

The blockade here in Manipur is still in force. Petrol has gone up again to 95 rupees/litre. Cooking gas now has increased to 950/bottle. Rice which sold for 12 rupees/kilo now has risen to 60 rupees. Life is becoming harder each day.

Please keep praying for us.

Petrol and Gas Prices Sky-Rocketing

Friday, July 22, 2005
Dear Papa, it is nearly one month since the start of the National highway economic blockade. The agitators are the Naga students. Prices of all commodities are sky rocketing. Petrol cost was 31 rupees /litre and now sells for 95 rupees/litre. Petrol is being adulterated by unscrupulous dealers. Cooking gas which cost 280 rupees/bottle now costs 900 rupees/bottle. Because of these price increases people can hardly afford to buy anything. Life in Manipur has become hard. Each day has become a struggle for the people to exist.

During the inauguration of the Diplomatic Centre close to one thousand people turned up. We expected several hundred people, which we had catered for. Although so many came, we were able to feed them all. Many people from Government departments came and participated on this great day. We slaughtered a cow and a pig and it fed all the people.

The fishery farm we purchased with funds received from BWAA (Baptist World Aid Association) is a great help. They have helped us a lot. A special organization was set up to receive funds from BWAA called, “Manipur Mission Community Aid Development Service”. The organisation will be working in cooperation with ROLWE Australia.

Inauguration of Diplomatic Centre

Wednesday, July 20, 2005
The inaugural ceremony for the Diplomatic Centre was held yesterday. We prayed for the weather and it was a fine sunny day without one drop of rain. It was surely that the hand of God was on us. As soon as everything was packed up it rained all night long.

Almost all the people who came represented different tribes. High ranking officials from the government were very pleased to see tribal groups that were sworn enemies attend this function. It was a time of reconciliation for many.

Much food was given to feed the people that came. Donations were made by well wishers and government officials towards the cost of the event.

Rural Evangelism

Thursday, July 14, 2005
We have just arrived back from rural evangelism. There is hardly any free time as the work of God is growing fast. As our conditions change every moment, I feel we need to speed up our work.

The inauguration of our Diplomatic Centre will be on the 18th of this month. It will be the opening of the ground floor offices.

Thank you for the funds to pay the pastors and teachers each month. The long economic blockade by the Naga tribes of the national highway which is the only highway into Manipur State has not changed. Everything has become more expensive.

Economic Blockades

Monday, July 04, 2005
Manipur is facing another problem, with economic blockades by the Naga people. All essential commodities have risen in price. A great shortage of food items exists. A State Wide and general strike from the 10th of July will bring even greater hardship for the people of Manipur.

Dear Papa, keep praying for us. We need to build a wall around our Diplomatic Centre for safety. The cost of building this brick fence is $1000 AUD.

We don’t have to worry about getting your permits for you to enter Manipur as you are coming to your own people.

Fasting, Prayer, Healing and Deliverance

Sunday, July 03, 2005
The cost to purchase land to build the Training Centre and farm is 1,000,000 Kyats or $1,200 US. It has been confirmed that the farm will be handed over after the next harvest season.

To help in meeting the cost and expenses to get the gospel out to remote villages it was decided to raise a three-hundred (300) hen chicken farm. This can raise 1000 Kyats/head. The cost for this project and build the required chicken farm costs 500,00o Kyats or 700 US.

A day of fasting and prayer was held for the doubting believers. A team went to the hospital to pray for the sick people. Every Sunday Salai Po Lun leads Sunday school bible studies. His son went and visited several villages on a 14 day gospel trip.

The team in Myanmar prays every night for the ministry of River of Life. One of the believers from a village baptised by Papa Joe died from liver cancer. Salai visited many villages visiting believers who are now waiting to be baptised. A fasting day was held for the progress of the Training Centre on the 29th of June.

Salai Thein had a family fasting day. His family went on a gospel trip visiting five villages preaching and teaching the word of God. Some of the families of the believers fast for three days.

Tin Soa reports that he visited a village and a blind man received his sight as he prayed for him. In another village he saw that some of the believers had gone away from the gospel and are known as the Devil gang. A young girl 18 years of age was healed from a severe ankle strain. However she was possessed by evil spirits and it took three hours for her to be delivered. From the 3rd of July to the 10th of July many villages were visited. As Tin Soa went from village to village people received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour while other were raised from their sick beds.

Several of the young believers want to go and preach the gospel in different villages.
